Rick tells Brooke about Amber's hunch that Deacon is about to turn over custody of Little Eric to them. When Amber is taking Little Eric back, she finds Deacon bruised and battered. Deacon tells her that his 'father' did this to him, and he should have seen it coming. Deacon says that Daryl told him he'd be a lousy father. Deacon insists that he cares about his son and he won't end up like his father. He promises Amber that everything's going to be different from now on. He's going to prove his stepfather wrong, starting with doing what's best for Little Eric. Amber is thrilled, and thanks Deacon, assuring him that he'll get his money. Deacon realizes that he's been misunderstood and tells Amber that she can't take his son. Deacon's going to prove he's not a loser by being a great father to Little Eric and giving him everything he needs. Amber is horrified. Clarke is relieved when Sally tells him that Morgan left town. He explains that Morgan wasn't the woman they all thought she was. On the way to the island, the fog sets in. Taylor has Catherine put the twins to sleep in the cabin. Taylor and Ridge are enjoying the ride in high spirits until suddenly there is a shout of alarm from the first mate. The boat tips, and Ridge and Taylor are thrown against the railing, with Ridge holding on to Thomas.
